Through thirty-two black-and-white photographs, Christian Boltanski reenacting scenes from his childhood. The captions describe episodes from his life (some real, some invented) between the ages of 4 and 12, while the accompanying photographs, taken by Annette Messager, show him in 1972 at the age of 24, staging scenes or exploring real memories.
Original edition from 1972: 500 copies, 32 pages, 20 x 14.5 cm format.
1998 reprint with English and German translations of the French texts, 22 x 15.5 cm, 1,500 copies.
Limited edition: 32 original photos mounted on cardboard, presented in a tin box (22 x 16 x 5 cm) hand-titled by the author, 60 copies numbered and signed.
